Hood Rules Logo
My goal in this project was to take the concept of street safety and inject it into the name “hood rules,” being careful not to design in a way that played to what many people think when they read the word “hood.” My final design includes thin lines in order to add a sense of elegance, a silhouette of a home and building to express that the word “hood” refers to neighborhood, and a subtle graphic above the “O”s to hint that the letters represent binoculars. Many of my concepts revolved around the idea of navigation, since this book is about navigating safely through a neighborhood. Some additional concepts include playing with other (non binocular) navigation tools such as a magnifying glass and sextant. I also played with the number 10 since there are 10 chapters in the book.
