Office Desk
Since I work from a home office, I wanted to create a desk that made me feel proud to sit in for long hours. My goal was to have a single and seamless long desk that was designed as two separate interconnecting pieces; I did't want to custom build a piece for my office that couldn't be taken with me when I move. This is desk is 12' 7" long!
I wanted a reclaimed wood look, but didn't want to use a planer on recycled wood, so I bought new wood planks and beat them up myself. After scratching, denting, and drilling holes into the planks, I used wood-fill to fill all the crevices before sanding and staining. I then bought two cabinets and beat them up in order to create a cohesive look. After that, I built a slim and unobtrusive triangular leg in order to support the center of the desk. In order to conceal cables, I made removable slots on the back side of the desk along with hooks across the bottom side. While this project took a long time to complete, it was totally worth it.
